Gift for Momma

Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers and prospered. Some years later, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who lived far away in another city.

The first said, "I had a big house built for Mama."

The second said, "I had a hundred thousand dollar theater built in the house."

The third said "I had my Mercedes dealer deliver an SL600 to her."

The fourth said, "You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can't read anymore because she can't see very well. I met this preacher who told me about a parrot that can recite the entire Bible. It took twenty preachers 12 years to teach him. I had to pledge to contribute $100,000 a year for twenty years to the church, but it was worth it. Mama just has to name the chapter and verse and the parrot will recite it."

The other brothers were impressed. After the holidays Mom sent out her thank you notes. "She wrote: "Milton, the house you built is so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway."

"Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home, I have my groceries delivered, so I never use the Mercedes. The thought was good. Thanks."

"Michael, you gave me an expensive theater with Dolby sound, it could hold 50 people, but all my friends are dead, I've lost my hearing and I'm nearly blind. I'll never use it. Thank you for the gesture just the same."

"Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you."

Neck pain

Neck pain (or cervicalgia) is a common problem, with two-thirds of the population having neck pain at some point in their lives.[1] It is increasing in both intensity, frequency and severity of episodes.[citation needed] As people are increasingly sedentary, live fast-paced and hectic lives, they place more stress and strain on the upper back and neck regions of their spines.

Neck pain, although felt in the neck, can be caused by numerous other spinal issues. Neck pain may arise due to muscular tightness in both the neck and upper back. Joint disruption in the neck creates pain, as does joint disruption in the upper back.

The head is supported by the lower neck and upper back, and it is these areas that commonly cause neck pain. The top three joints in the neck allow for most movement of your neck and head. The lower joints in the neck and those of the upper back create a supportive structure for your head to sit on. If this support system is affected adversly, then the muscles in the area will tighten, leading to neck pain.

Neck pain may also arise from many other physical and emotional health issues.

Neck pain can be due to improper habits in our daily routine or improper posture which cause pressure on the neck. Following measure can be take to avoid neck pain :

1. Proper posture while sitting - keep your head up straight and rest your back on the chair.
2. Avoid continuously sitting for a long time, walk about in between.
3. While lifting heavy things do not bend your back. Sit down with your knees bend, keep the heavy object close to your body while lifting.
4. Sleeping on a hard bed and lying on your back is good for the neck and back. Avoid sleeping on your stomach.
5. When you have neck pain avoid pillows while lying on the bed.
6. When there is swelling or pain in the neck applying heat on the neck helps.
7. Relax. Tension causes pressure on the neck muscles which leads to pain.

Neck Pain Causes

Reasons for neck pain can be complex. Major and severe causes of neck pain include:

* Spondylosis - degenerative arthritis and osteophytes
* Spinal stenosis – a narrowing of the spinal canal
* Spinal disc herniation – protruding or bulging discs, or if severe prolapse.
* Severe degeneration – usually as a result of past injuries or whiplash accidents.

The more common and lesser neck pain causes include:

* Stress – physical and emotional stresses
* Prolonged postures – many people fall asleep on sofas and chairs and wake with sore necks
* Minor injuries and falls – car accidents, sporting events and day to day minor injuries
* Referred pain – mostly from upper back problems
* Over-use – muscular strain is one of the most common causes

Although the causes are numerous, most are easily recitified by either professional help or using self help advice and techniques.

Red Eye Removal Using Photoshop

1. Open your image ----- Open the image that you want to repair. Try zooming in so you can easily see the red eyes that need to be fixed. Then, select the Color Replacement tool (located in the toolbox with the Healing Brush and Patch tool).

2. Choose a brush tip ----- Choose a brush tip from the options bar. The brush tip should be smaller than the red area of the eye to make correcting the red-eye easier.

3. Set options for the Color Replacement tool ----- In the options bar, you can choose settings that help you fix red-eye. For Mode, make sure that Color is selected. For the Sampling option, choose Once to erase only areas containing the color that you target. For the Limits option, select Discontiguous to replace the sampled color wherever it occurs under the brush. Drag the Tolerance slider to a low value (around 30 percent) to replace only the few colors very similar to the pixels you click.

4. Choose a color to replace the red ----- Typically, black is a good choice, but you could try other colors to more closely resemble a person's eye color. To choose a color, click the foreground color swatch in the toolbox. In the color picker, choose a color that looks good, and then click OK.

5. Repair your photo ----- Click once on the color you want to replace in the image. Drag over the red with black to repair the image. If all the red isn't removed, try increasing the Tolerance level in the options bar to correct more shades of red.
Once you're happy with the correction, save your image. Red-eye will never present a problem again!

Happy Valentines Day

Love comes through the eyes that see
And through the ears that hear,
For people are quite beautiful,
And words make feelings clear.

Love comes through the hands that touch
With unabashed affection,
For only skin-to-skin can love
Maintain its true direction.

Love comes through the tastes and smells
Of fresh and well-cooked food,
For in the gift of nourishment
Is much else that is good.

But though love comes through senses five,
Love comes from the heart,
For there resides the greater love
Of which ours is a part.

Gold Shrimp Plant or Lollypop Plant

Shrimp plant is a bold evergreen perennial flowering shrub. Of course, the big attractions are the intense golden yellow flowers many folks agree look like the cooked shrimp we eat. It is an evergreen upright shrub, 4 to 10 feet tall, 2 to 5 feet wide; opposite, ovate, dark green leaves, up to 6 inches long, 2.4 inches wide. Produces showy yellow blossoms from late spring to early summer. Golden Shrimp Plant sends out underground runners. With a few plants and a few years, your Golden Shrimp Plant will spread to fill in spaces.

Flaming katy or Kalanchoe

Kalanchoes are succulent plants with flat, glossy, green leaves. Kalanchoes will also bloom with small pretty flowers in shades of reds, pinks, oranges, and yellows. The plant was originally brought from Magadascar to Paris in 1927, while in 1928 a German merchant managed to grow it as a houseplant and started to trade it a few years later, around 1932. His name was Blossfeld and the common variety of kalanchoe was named after him (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) The name kalanchoe came from a chinese word but it is still unknown how and when it was given to the plant. Grown indoors or out for its bright flowers and ornamental, fleshy foliage. The small flowers are grouped in tightly paced flowerheads borne on long stems. Each head has between 20 - 50 flowers. Will thrive outdoors in frost-free areas. Ideal container or indoor plant. Tiny flowers are borne mainly in Summer and Autumn, but also in Winter in the more temperate areas.

Violet Bells

I have been unable to find out the generic or common name of this flower. It looks like morning glory and some of the other bell flowers, but the leaf shape is different from the others.

Anyways it adds color to my garden and I love it for that. Should anyone be able to identify the flower, please leave a comment.

Baby Sun Rose

Baby Sun Rose is a perennial herb, spreading over ground and neighboring vegetation, with small, heart-shaped, dark green succulent leaves interspersed with small, axillary, many-petaled, bright pink to purple flowers that open only in sun. Baby sun rose is native to the Eastern Coastal Plains of South Africa. This charming plant makes an excellent annual ground cover, often reaching a spread of 2 feet or more in the growing season. Baby sun rose needs full sun to light shade. When grown in pots, the pots should be at least 8 inches deep. It also makes a great hanging basket plant for full sun. Aptenia cordifolia are propagated by cuttings or seed. Cuttings will root in about 3 weeks. Has excellent heat tolerance.

Pink Orchid - Crown of Thorns

1-1/2" soft pink blooms are borne in clusters on and off throughout the year. Large drooping foliage atop the thick stiff canes gives the appearance of a small thorny palm tree. An easy indoor plant requiring minimal water and good light in a free draining cactus soil.

Gazania Ringens

Gazania, or treasure flower, is a South African annual flower that likes hot, dry summers. Gardeners treasure it for its strangely patterned daisylike flowers.

Gazanias grow in rosette form with attractive notched leaves. Flowers rise 8 to 12 inches on short stems. They're white, pink, bronze, red, yellow, and orange with banded markings. Flowers close on cloudy days.

Gazanias prefer full sun and moderately fertile but well-drained soil. They don't like heavy soil in hot, humid climates.
